DEATH OF ARCHDEACON HENRY JEFFREYS 1849 |
---|
We regret to announce the death, on Monday last, of the Venerable Henry Jeffreys, Archdeacon of Bombay.
He arrived on Saturday last at a friend's house in Exeter, assisted that friend in his clerical duties on Sunday, took a walk in the evening during which he spoke of his own good health and strength, was seized the next morning with cholera, and died the same evening at seven.
What renders the case more distressing is, that Mrs. Jeffreys the wife of the archdeacon, was expected to arrive in Exeter the same day, being totally unaware of the melancholy bereavement she has experienced.
